It seems like a lifetime ago that I travelled to the beautiful island of Ibiza, yet it was only at the end of last month.

After recovering from doing six rounds of high intensity interval training (HIIT) I thought I’d keep the productive vibes flowing by finally getting round to writing a quick post about holiday fitness.

Ibiza is renowned for it’s amazing party scene; Pacha, Space and Amnesia are just a few of the mind blowing clubs you can enjoy. But at the risk of sounding like an old biddy, it’s rather well known for its breathtaking scenery too. Vibrant turquoise sea laps around the golden shores and rocky mountains, making it the ideal place to spend an afternoon exploring the landscape, getting lost climbing the hills and diving into the tranquil blue ocean.

With the best intentions, I started my holiday by swimming 100 lengths in the pool everyday, steering clear of the pan au chocolats at breakfast and using the balcony as a mini yoga studio. Unfortunately, this did not last for more than two days, and despite my keen efforts I quickly fell into the sitting-around-on-my-lazy-bootay-and-eating phase of my holiday. But damn, it felt good! We all need time to recharge our batteries after all.

In between sunbathing sessions, curiosity did get the better of me and I ventured into the stunning Spanish hills with my sister.

The views were absolutely perfect. The sea was the kind of idyllic blue that you’d expect a five year old to describe – as clear as cystal. The sun beamed in the sky, casting everything with a lovely golden glow.

Walking is such a great exercise as it works simultaneous parts of your body, while taking it slow helps your muscles to build and develop. Climbing the mountains can be a bit tricky – especially if you are wearing flip flops – so we didn’t go too far, although it was still a great workout for our legs trying to balance on the rocky terrain. Or Climb.

I have returned to England with a little extra post holiday weight, but I really enjoyed relaxing and enjoying the amazing Spanish cuisine on offer, so it was all worth it.

Do you have any tips for keep fit on holiday?
