Smoothing cellulite at Rejuvenate Skin Clinic

Smoothing cellulite at Rejuvenate Skin Clinic

Who doesn’t love a good pampering session? There’s nothing better than treating yourself to something that makes you feel amazing after a stressful day at work.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to try out some of the non-invasive treatments at Rejuvenate Skin Clinic in Manchester, which you can read more about here. The clinic specialises in treatments that help people feel fabulous in their own skin.

Side note, the clinic smells so nice! The scent of lavender oils creates such a relaxing sanctuary to unwind in.

One of the services I was curious about was the cellulite treatment…

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a very common skin condition which affects more women than men. It gives an uneven ‘orange peel’ like appearance and is usually found on the top of your legs and bum. It’s really common and it doesn’t cause any harm, but it can make you feel self-conscious when your legs are on display.

Leena, the Clinic Manager, explained that cellulite is due to underlying fat deposits which push their way through layers of collagen fibres, or connective tissue, under the skin. This tissue can be weakened due to poor circulation, hormones, lack of physical activity and excess weight.

Like most women, I have had cellulite for most of my adult life. Despite being physically active and eating well, I have never found anything to get rid of it. I may be active, but I’m sure sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week doesn’t help the skin on my thighs.

Rejuvenate offer a variety of treatments for cellulite which is discussed in a private consultation before hand. We decided that the Ultrasonic Cavitation followed by the Pressotherapy Lymphatic Drainage massage suit would be the best option for my needs.

Ultrasonic Cavitation

The first stage of the cellulite treatment is the ultrasonic cavitation which may sound scary, (the word cavitation reminds me of the dentist), but it’s basically an ultrasound massage. And it wasn’t scary at all; in fact it was really calming!

The therapist uses ultrasound waves to penetrate deep under your skin into the fat tissue, which is called the subcutaneous fat layer. The waves break down the fat tissue into a liquidated state, and which is then removed through the body’s natural excretory processes to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

The best thing about this treatment is that it’s permanent, if you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Pressotherapy Lymphatic Drainage

Rejuvenate skin clinic lymphatic drainage suit

To speed up the whole process, it’s best to tackle cellulite in two parts. How funny did I look in this suit?

It’s a pressotherapy lymphatic drainage suit which massages the lymph nodes to improve circulation and expel toxins from the body. The suit inflates with air and gently uses it to massage the entire body.

Leena told me that the pressotherapy lymphatic drainage suit is one of the most popular treatments for busy people because they can come in and relax, while experiencing a treatment that will make them feel more confident once they walk out of the door.

I may look like a gingerbread man going to the moon, but it was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep!

My verdict

The treatments were very relaxing and the skin on my legs is a lot smoother and softer than it was before.

As I only did one course of the treatment, I won’t be able to see the same results as I would from say three treatments, but I can imagine it would be very effective if I kept going.

Before learning about the treatments Rejuvenate offer, I didn’t know that you could get rid of cellulite, I thought it was just genetic, so I was amazing to see the results. If you’re interested in trying out non-invasive treatments I would highly recommend going to Rejuvenate Skin Clinic in Manchester.

Keep your eyes peeled on the blog to read about my experience with their microdermabrasion facial!
